Immediate help
Tonight only needs three things.
One conversation. One boundary. One next step. That is enough for the first night after JADE, and enough for a night that is already going badly.
01
Keep the house ordinary
Dinner, homework, the usual bedtime. A huge family meeting on night one usually makes everyone brace. Ordinary is the point.
02
Name one rule you can keep
Curfew, phone after a set hour, or no closed-door hangouts. One rule you will actually enforce is better than five you will abandon by Friday.
03
Have one short conversation
Use what JADE already opened. “We are staying with the plan.” Then stop. Do not re-litigate the referral or hunt for a confession.
04
Write tomorrow’s next step
A testing appointment, a counselor call, or the first Zoom date. Put it on paper so tonight does not have to carry the whole 30 days.
If the night is already hard
They are angry or shut down
Do not chase the argument. Restate the one rule, end the conversation, and come back in the morning.
You found something tonight
Secure it, stay factual, and wait until you are both not shouting. Call CYS tomorrow if you need a testing or counseling next step.
School just called again
Write down what they asked for. You do not have to solve district policy at 9 p.m. Bring it to CYS or the next Zoom.
Immediate danger: call 911. Mental-health crisis: call or text 988. CYS: (949) 303-9016.
