Resource library
Open the issue you are facing, not a stack of extra reading.
Parents leave JADE with tools and motivation. This library exists for the week after, when the question is specific: testing, school, home rules, or a night that went sideways.
How to use this library
- Start with the issue in front of you, not the whole library.
- Use one next step tonight. Save the rest of the reading for later in the week.
- If the teen is in immediate danger, call 911. CYS aftercare is not crisis response.
- Counseling, monitored testing, and school follow-up still live at California Youth Services. Use them when they fit.
- Bring hard weeks to the Zoom or parent community instead of deciding alone at 11 p.m.
Topics parents ask for after class
Home rules after JADE
One or two rules you can keep, not a new household constitution.
What to do tonight
Keep the evening small: one conversation, one boundary, one next step.
Talking about testing without a fight
How to name the test as care, not punishment, and when CYS testing fits.
When school asks for more than JADE
What to bring to the next counselor or administrator conversation.
Setting boundaries without pushing away
The weekly Zoom topic parents ask for most after class ends.
Signs the plan is slipping
What to watch for in the first 30 days, and when to call CYS again.
Mental health alongside use
When anxiety, depression, or grief belong in the next conversation with staff.
Siblings in the house
How to keep the rest of the family in the loop without making them the police.
You do not have to carry this week alone.
